WildSmiles are manufactured for bonding on the U3-3 (social six) only and can be ordered in sets of U3-3 (6 brackets) or U2-2 (4 brackets). WildSmiles offer an ideal appliance option for patients 14 and younger who are in need of a bonded appliance but are not eligible for clear aligners. In fact, 70% of patients 11 and younger will choose WildSmiles when given the choice. For younger patients bonded in a traditional mini-twin appliance on the maxillary anterior before being bonded in a passive ligation system, WildSmiles offer a fun appliance alternative to a traditional mini-twin appliance. For doctors bonding a mini-twin appliance in the maxillary anterior and a passive ligation appliance in the maxillary posterior, WildSmiles seamlessly integrate by simply replacing the traditional mini-twin appliance.

Current providers suggest their patients demonstrate better hygiene with WildSmiles. Unlike traditional mini-twin braces, WildSmiles bracket pads extend beyond the tie-wings. This ensures any normal plaque accumulation will rest on the pad surface and not the tooth. Treatment history proves that WildSmiles will not lead to decalcification. We recommend a fluoride rinse for all orthodontic patients.

WildSmiles bracket placement and identification are similar to traditional mini-twin brackets. The mesial gingival tie-wing has the number 1, 2 or 3 inscribed and the distal tie-wing has a dot inscribed. To accurately place the bracket, you must identify the vertical mark that runs incisal to gingival on the bracket (not the pad) between the mesial and distal tie-wings. When placed properly, the vertical mark should run along the long axis of the tooth and slot height should be placed as you would in your bracket system. A color change bonding adhesive is suggested when bonding WildSmiles. The color change adhesive is also suggested if there are areas around the bracket where you would like to leave a coating of bonding material to minimize plaque contact with the tooth surface
